Dictionary.com defines democracy as a form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system.”   The site lists Canada and the United States as examples of democracies or democratic governments.  With this in mind, Donald J. Trump was successfully elected the 45th President of the United States in November 2016 and was sworn in during this weekend’s inauguration.

Despite casting the majority of votes for Trump in the US Electoral College, a feeling of fear has been cast over America’s new reality.  From reality tv to the White House, in what some describe as overnight and unprecedented, Trump’s political inexperience has been an ongoing global debate.  Hence, it is fair to say that same fear is shared in countries all around the world.

Fear not, fellow Liberals.  We will not be discouraged by the controversial messages of Donald J. Trump.  Let us be inspired by his newfound success.  Through the use of new media and apps, he defied traditional campaigning and paved the way for future young politicians to include new strategies and tools to gain or remain in power.  We are young and strong.  We are innovative and creative.  We too can lead the free world to a brighter future.  And for that be thankful, not fearful.
